Nice salty, brine on the nose. Dark berry notes when I gently swirl the glass. Good nose! I could just sit here and smell this for a while. Bright fruity notes on the palate to start. Then iodine, sea salt, black pepper. The peat is more like cigar smoke than campfire. Nice thick mouth feel. Strong, smokey finish. Call me crazy but I get a tiny bit of orange and black tea notes after the smoke clears. Again, think ashy smoke. Super interesting whisky! Nothing sharp or off-putting. The flavors blend well together. Very smooth and buttery.

Nose: The nose seems light. I don’t get a lot but it pretty much smells like rye bread Palate: Caramel-forward. There’s a floral quality. Then, the rye flavor turns on a builds into a strong finish Finish: It’s a bold rye spice that lingers. For me, this hits stronger than a 110 proof. It’s a quality rye but not my absolute favorite.

I was fortunate to get a sample of this from a friend. I really enjoy this! Fantastic! Nose - It pretty much just smells like a green apple jolly rancher. Palate - Classic Irish notes (shortbread cookie, green apple, vanilla). The taste kind of reminds me of a coconut macaroon. Nice creamy texture. Finish - As with basically every Irish whisky, the finish is short to medium due to the low proof. However, I don’t pick up any of the metallic notes I usually get with Irish whisky.

Bourbon notes jump out of the glass on the nose. I get vanilla and caramel. There are malty notes that remind me of the Loch Lomond 12 I own—like honeydew. Okay come on! That’s just good! This must be ex bourbon barrel. I taste sweet bourbon notes with the classic malt notes. There’s some fruitiness like cantaloupe or honeydew. I’d say the finish is the best part. I love the whiskies that have an espresso-type finish. It’s smooth and creamy like Irish cream.

Russell's Reserve 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 8, 2021 (edited July 23, 2021)I don’t have the best glass for nosing but I get aromas of cherry, brown sugar, cinnamon, and something that reminds me of pastry dough. Rich caramel, vanilla, and cinnamon spice on the palate. This whiskey isn’t going to rough you up. The finish is soft but lingering with cinnamon and vanilla. Maybe a slight toffee or butterscotch. This is my favorite bourbon to date (not that I’ve tried many). I think if this was about 94 proof it would be perfect. I’ve never been disappointed with anything from Wild Turkey.
