Classic Irish notes on the nose. Shortbread cookie, apple, slightly metallic. Maybe red berries. I definitely taste the sherry on the palate along with the shortbread cookie. There’s a creaminess that I like too. Red fruits and malt show up for me on the finish. This is a great Irish whisky! There’s a lot to love for the ABV. 80 proof usually tastes watered down to me but this whisky brings a lot of flavor.

Doughy cinnamon rolls, cherry, and vanilla on the nose. Cinnamon roll carries over to the palate. I get a little butterscotch. There’s some oak tannins as well. The finish is medium long and full of cinnamon. This is a nice whiskey. It feels a little thin. The flavors are good but I was hoping for something more. There are better bourbons for this price point. EDIT: I’m nearly finished with this bottle. I tried to make the most of it but I’m having to mix it just to get through it. Just not good.

This is a classic for me. It’s one of the whiskies that first got me interested in whisky. There’s a subtle sweetness on the nose like the caramelized portion of a honey baked ham. This sweetness is hidden underneath a pleasant rubber note along with an earthy peat. The palate starts off sweet like strawberries and cream. This evolves into rubber, iodine, and charcoal. The finish is reminiscent of a campfire at the beach.

Loch Lomond 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands , Scotland
Reviewed May 17, 2021 (edited August 28, 2021)All fruit on the nose. Full of cantaloupe, honeydew, and dried apricot. Palate carries the same fruits from the nose. Then there’s a malty flavor. The finish is my favorite! It’s a sweet honeydew that morphs into a chocolate covered coffee bean. Fantastic! -
Peat and light sweetness on the nose. Palate is earthy and peaty. There’s a touch of fruity sweetness; maybe peach? There’s vanilla, and I get lemon meringue. Finish is like a toasted graham cracker and has a slight band-aid and salt water quality. The first time I had this I was underwhelmed. This tasting was much better. I think this would be good for someone getting into peaty scotches and it has enough complexity to keep me interested. #WWD

I’m surprised how much I like this one! I think I’m going to replace my Macallan 12 with this one for a pleasant highland single malt. Nose: Citrus, honey, and vanilla Palate: Sweet and citrus at first that evolves into a waxy, honey, and a faint puff of smoke Finish: Lemon, pepper, honey Edit: I’m getting pear notes after further tastings.

Nose: Apple, raspberry, custard, and I’m getting a hint of cheddar cheese? (Maybe my nose is broken). Palate: Jalapeño, cinnamon, apple, sugar. Finish: Sweet and spicy. Reminds me of some ryes I’ve had. This is one of my favorites! I have NEVER gotten a jalapeño note but this time I could taste it on every sip. I kinda like it! It makes me enjoy this more.
