Color: Burnt Amber Nose: Alchohol, solvent, green apple, banana, honey Adding water brings out more honey on the nose. Taste: Peppery, sherry, nutty, oily on the palette. Adding water brings out more bitterness and spiciness. Finish: Pepper, honey, and nutty. Finish is short, but of good substance and flavor This was my second tasting from the same bottle. I gave it a lower score this time. Definitely a different taste compared to the first time. It will be interesting to see how it develops over time.

On the initial nosing I get musty wood, shoe polish, maple syrup, ginger, and baked apple. As the nose develops I also get raisin, sherry, stewed prunes, and a hint of baked bananas. On the palate it’s smooth, thick and oily, a little heat, and sweetness. The finish is short to medium length with a mouth coating sweetness and a bit of spiciness. Overall this is a pleasant easy drinking dram with decent complexity. Definitely one for the sherry lovers, but not quite as over the top as some of the younger and cask strength types.

Port Charlotte 10 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed July 23, 2022 (edited November 9, 2022)Initial nosing I get peat smoke, iodine, and then that classic Bruichladdich new make freshness with citrus notes and vanilla. On the pallate I get campfire, sour and then sweet. On the finish I get wood smoke, spice, and tartness. The finish is a nice medium length. I love that Bruichladdich bottles all their whisky at 50% and higher ABV. It suits the whisky well and is never over powering. This is a great Islay whisky at this price point! -
On the nose I get strawberry, a hint of pineapple and banana, some cereal yeasty notes, almost sweaty socks (but in a good way if that’s possible 😁), cherry and a hint of raisin. On the palette this is spicy with a fullness to the mouthfeel. The finish retains that spiciness and is of medium length. Definitely a tasty dram for 50 USD, which is what it cost me at Total Wine. If you haven’t had it I would highly recommend it!

Aberlour A'bunadh
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed July 21, 2022 (edited September 26, 2022)Initiallly I get sherry and sticky toffee pudding on the nose. After adding a bit of water I am also getting banana and spice. On the palate it is a bit oily, hot, and spicy. I may need to add more water to lessen the heat. The finish is nice, medium length, with more spice and sherry, along with some raisin and that sticky toffee pudding. A good desert dram. Definitely a sherry bomb. One to experiment with by adding different amount of water to see how it evolves. It can take it as it’s Bottled at cask strength. -
I get honey, pear, and a hint of apple on the nose. Definitely no smoke like a few others said they got, of course this may vary year to year. On the palate it’s smooth and buttery with a hint of spice. The finish is fairly short with a bit of minerality and some astringency. All in all it’s not a bad dram, but not very complex. It’s smooth and quaffable. It would probably do best in mix drinks.
