Cragganmore 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed January 8, 2021 (edited March 26, 2021)Nose of berries and cream and apple, as well as notes of salinity and grass. In the mouth, starts sweet and fruity and honeyed, with a little pepper on the tongue and some light peat and smoke. Soft, thin aftertaste of medium length, fading into more apple and honey at the end. A nice light and fruity Speyside. -
Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 26, 2020 (edited January 11, 2021)Caramel, vanilla, oak and spice on the nose. On the palate the vanilla and spice dominate with pepper on the tongue and cinnamon in the back of the mouth , into a long finish that introduces chocolate undertones. Great stuff! -
Vanilla, oak and raisiny sweet vermouth on the nose, with lots of cinnamon and nutmeg spice. On the palate, the vanilla and spice hit first, fading into a long finish where the sherried stone fruit notes come to the fire, along with some raisin. Very smooth due to the age but also likely the lower proof (80). Very nice stuff for the price, especially when compared to Scotch!

Nose of vanilla, strawberry and grass. Reminds me of spring. On the palate the vanilla remains strong, with oak, cinnamon and nutmeg undertones with a hint of peat present. The finish is medium length and sweet, with sherry notes of stone fruit but a suggestion of strawberry/raspberry. A light bodied but flavorful whisky.

GlenDronach Revival 15 Year (2018 Re-Release)
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed August 14, 2020 (edited June 16, 2022)Nose is sherry dominated, with a lot of vanilla notes and faint pepper. In the mouth lots of vanilla, some spice (pepper at the fore, with some cinnamon) and a hint of saline smoke, with very little burn. The sherry returns in the long finish, which develops plum and stone fruit notes as time goes on. It reminds me of a high end high rye bourbon, but much less sweet (a good thing). Really great stuff - but different from the 12!100.0 USD per BottleFine Wine & Good Spirits -
Nose of smoke, pepper, and iodine, with raisiny sherry undertones and a touch of hay and grass. Pepper and iodine right up front on the palate, with a honeyed sweetness right behind it fading into iodine and charred wood. Long finish with the iodine and sweetness lingering, and a salty tone. This finish sticks with you a while and makes you think of sitting by the fire on a winter's night...

Peat, brine, and a little smoke on the nose, with hints of grass and hay. On the palate peat and iodine right off, with a honey sweetness and brine following with some pepper heat in a long warming finish. There's a little canned peach that lingers afterward with the honey and salt. Great stuff.65.0 USD per Bottle
