Knob Creek 18 Year Bourbon 30th Anniversary (2022 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 18, 2022 (edited November 13, 2022)Just pouring this in the glass I notice she's thick, with big slow moving fingers in the glass. First whiff is bold. I get oak, sweet cherries, cinnamon, and light char on the nose. On the palate it's remarkably smooth. There's a soft mouth coating cherry vanilla coupled with big wood notes that define it. While you're admiring how smooth it is the cinnamon and spice starts to build for a very nice finish. Overall this is the best Knob Creek I've had thus far.169.99 USD per Bottle -
Bushmills 16 Year Single Malt
Single Malt — Ireland
Reviewed October 12, 2022 (edited October 13, 2022)On the nose there's malty grain, fruit, and unmistakable port wine. On the palate it's ridiculously smooth, to the point I can barely notice there's alcohol in it. It's very sweet, with a mix of oak and port. The finish is overwhelmingly port wine with a slow building spice. Overall I think this is an excellent pour for the price. Reminds me alot of Balvenie 21 portwood.54.0 USD per Bottle -
Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series 2022 BRT-02
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed October 6, 2022 (edited October 27, 2022)On the nose there's sweet chocolate with spicy cinnamon and char. On the palate it's like a fall dessert. There's sweet brown sugar and toasted Graham crackers with cinnamon, baking spices and char. It reminds me of a toasted barrel bourbon. The finish is long and building. I liked this alot more than I thought I would. -
Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana, USA
Reviewed October 5, 2022 (edited November 26, 2022)On the nose I get huge smoky caramel notes, and you guessed it, sweet tobacco. The proof is deceptive because I get very little hints of alcohol. On the palate it has a lot of mouth feel with soft mouth coating vanilla, but also rich barrel notes and spice. I initially get super sweet vanilla ice cream, then it is joined by a building cinnamon and char wave that lingers for a long enjoyable finish and tasty aftertaste. I think this would pair nicely with a cigar.180.0 USD per Bottle -
Old Forester Single Barrel Bourbon Barrel Strength
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 27, 2022 (edited November 4, 2022)This particular bottle is a barrel pick "Fortune Favors the Bold". On the nose it's sweet and spicy. Cherry and vanilla with corn and char. On the palate it's a much more rich 1920 Prohibition. It's viscous and rich like a spiked cherry coke, where the warming heat takes the place of the fizz accompanied by charred oak. The finish is long and enjoyable with a long Kentucky hug ending with unmistakable barrel notes.84.0 USD per BottleCoast Guard Exchange -
Blanton's Straight From the Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 4, 2022 (edited November 15, 2022)This bottle was dumped on 3-24-20 at 130.9 proof. On the nose honey, caramel, and cherries. Surprisingly light ethanol for the proof. However, you find that proof on the palate. It's spicy. So much so that I feel it overpowers the other flavors. Intense cinnamon and red hots with a hint of that typical Blanton's flavor trying to break through. For a barrel proof it feels oddly thin, not what I expected. The finish is a very long lasting burn. In fact, as I'm writing this I can still feel it in my stomach. Not as impressed with this as I was hoping to be. -
Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 31, 2022 (edited November 16, 2022)First off, really stoked to have gotten my hands on this bottle. This particular one was batch 9. But getting into it, the nose likes what it smells. There's a boat load of caramel, red hots, sweet cherries, barrel char, and ethanol with the 130 proof. On the palate it's a nice balance of sweetness and spiciness. The amount of oak and char almost over powers the caramel and brown sugar that's normal from EHT. On the backend there is an overwhelming, building burn that makes for a very long finish. -
Little Book Chapter 6: To the Finish
Blended American Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 23, 2022 (edited November 8, 2022)To start I'll say Freddie Noe's taste notes on the bottle were pretty spot on. The nose is interesting with malt and char, but overwhelming sweetness. It reminds me of a very bold Irish whiskey. On the palate it's smooth, rich, and sweet caramel with just the right amount of spice and char. The finish is long and warming. It drinks like an older whiskey. As I stated on the nose it's like a very bold Irish whiskey, I think that holds true through the palate and finish. -
Russell's Reserve 13 Year Bourbon (2021 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 21, 2022 (edited August 22, 2022)On the nose it's everything you want. It's sweet vanilla and cherry with a load of brown sugar. I wish my house smelled like this. On the palate it's dangerous. It's 114.8 proof you'd never know it is so smooth. There's a mouth coating vanilla and sweetness that you don't want to end with a hint of oak. As it finishes you get a subtle alcohol burn as the proof shows itself. This is some phenomenal juice, I need some more!
