This rum has something special on the nose and palate. On the first try, I got some musk, probably oak and was over the aroma of chocolate and molasses. The same muskiness was on the palate, with a little more chocolate. The finish was smooth, but short, too short. When I drink this rum, I think of a Japanese Whisky called Kamiki, which is matured on cedar casks and has an overwhelming cedar presence on the nose and palate.

For me this whisky is a punch in the mouth. I had the opportunity to try this whisky again after about a year. On the nose, the aroma of ash was strong. Although they call it peat, the aroma of "peat" is very different to the peat that I get from an Ardbeg, Talisker, Port Charlotte. In these whiskies, the peat smells and taste like smoke, BBQ smoke, but in the Bowmore 15, the peat was more of ash, sulfur, which was a little overwhelming. On the palate, I got some fruit, sherry, but the peat was also strong. The finish was medium and more ash. Overall an interesting dram, that I probably would reserve for a time that I am BBQ.80.0 USD per Bottle

This whisky is like a sweet honey and zesty candy. For me the nose is very light this time around (probably due to my allergies). The palate is honey sweet with a citric layer, more lemon/lime than orange, and the finish is more lemon (like a lemon drop, but not as strong nor sour). For me, this is another after dinner whisky that can go well with a soft meal like pasta, risotto, etc.

I like Glenmorangie for the diversity of their whiskies. This one is a rare and special drink. This whisky is sweet and fruity, like pears or apples and spicy. For a 52.5% ABV (2017 version), the finish is smooth and lasting. I think this is an excellent after dinner whisky, a whisky to share in special occasions. Marvelous.

This is a good to go whisky, but due to the shortage from Japan, I've noticed that its getting harder to find in the stores, not to mention that the price is also going up. On the nose this is light and sweet. On the palate i get some vanilla and chocolate, maybe some spices. The finish is medium lasting with more spice on the back end. Overall this is a good drink, but with the prices going up the way they are, there are many other choices for the $65-$75 price range.78.0 USD per Bottle

Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed April 18, 2020 (edited June 16, 2020)Finally got a bottle of Fire & Cane. Wanted to compare two rum finished whiskies, so I compared the Balvenie 14 Caribbean Cask with the Fire & Cane, interesting match. - On the nose, the Caribbean Cask (CC) was sweeter and mellow. The Fire & Cane (F&C) was strong, with a slight smokey influence in the background with fruits like orange... something citric. - On the palate, the CC was sweet... honey, sugary; the F&C was smoke with pears and a little sweetness, but nothing like the CC. - On the finish the CC was smooth and light; the F&C was strong, medium last, but it makes you remember that you are drinking a scotch whisky. Overall I liked them both. I will drink the CC maybe after dinner, but if I want to relax while watching an action movie, then the F&C will be the choice.90.0 USD per Bottle -

Mortlach 16 Year "Distiller's Dram"
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed April 14, 2020 (edited December 16, 2020)Finally opened another one. This expression of Mortlach is sweet and in the nose there’s sherry, species and something that I cannot make out, but it pulls me to it. The palate, more sherry and citric, a nice warmth on the finish. Overall, I liked this expression very much. Very traditional.
