Bank Note 5 Year Peated Reserve Scotch Whisky
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed January 2, 2024 (edited January 3, 2024)Flaviar Advent Calendar #3 Nose: smoke is present but restrained, a little spice and nuttiness. Caramel and a bit of baked fruit. Grain whisky is definitely noticeable Palate: a bit of smoke balanced with a sharp astringency of earth at first. Slight oak. As it sits mild vanilla and caramel come out. Grain whiskey is noticeable here too and a little sharp. Slight jamminess comes out as it rests. This one definitely needs to breathe. One note listed was dark chocolate, and I personally dont get that as much here but I can see why someone might. Finish: mild jam, oak tannin, thin and short. -
Flaviar advent calendar 2023 #2 Nose: Peat funk, sea salt air, oily. Mild citrus elements, there's definitely a note of marmalade. Vanilla. Palate: light and smooth. Salt. Vanilla, mild smoke and very mild peat. Ginger butter and malt chewiness. Hints of citrus and mild smooth woodiness (like a fresh sweet wood with very light tannins, not charred). Very drinkable. Finish: Thin. Not very long, mild seawater. Mild oak. The nose is definitely bigger and the palate doesn't quite live up to what the nose promises. Not bad by any means. A very light, drinkable malt with a kiss of Laphroaig notes on the nose and lesser so on the palate
