Glenmorangie Nectar d'Or Sauternes Cask Finish
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed July 28, 2020Tasted with Arran Sauternes Finish whisky. Nose: very interesting sweet with some warming spice I cannot identify. Orange zest. Less sweet than Arran. Less sweet & more rich than the Glenmo 10yo. Palate: starts creamy and sweety. Moderate warming spices. Fresh. Finish: long, fresh, spicy. Lingering ginger pungency.Maglód -
My first Sauternes cask whisky. Nose: sweet, honey, vanilla. Banana? Palate: starts with light sweetness, warming spices then alcohol kicks in. Really burns. Underlying sweetness remains. Finish: sweet, dry, warming and spices like nutmeg and ginger. Moderate dryness like almond. Long, sticky. With water: less aggressive on nose.Maglód

Nose: vanilla sweet, some sharpness when noseing deeper. Palate: mild, sweet then spicy notes getting to be dominant. Aftertaste: creamy, pungent spices, After few sips I can hardly feel anything but spices, sweetness and some faint bitterness. Nose: quite light, citrus, herbal. Palate: herbal, then spices and sweet notes coming in parallel. Finish: oak spices, rough feeling. Bit pungent. With some water: on nose the alcohol notes are lighter, as well as the herbal notes get softer; on palate the spicy notes are getting bit more rounded; aftertaste is much less oaky.Maglód
