Glen Scotia 12 Year (2022 Seasonal Release)
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed April 6, 2023Nose: Dry sherry, raisins, orange zest, nutty. Some milk chocolate on the retro. Palate: Oak, sultanas, an increasing intensity of spice. Underneath there's a salted caramel. Finish: Extremely dry initially. Spicy with an apple pie and vanilla custard. -
Nose: Aromas of stone fruit, sweet sultanas, red grape, and a hint of tobacco smoke. Palate: Creamy texture. Sweet berry fruit, some baking spices. Subtly woody. Finish: Plummy, jammy fruit. Some barrel spice peaks and falls. A sweet but dry finish. Notes: I've a soft spot for port finished whiskies and this is no exception. I'm enjoying the sweetness and red fruit this offers.

Three Ships 12 Year (James Sedgwick)
Single Malt — Western Cape, South Africa
Reviewed April 4, 2023Nose: Sweet aromatic smoke, white pepper, honey. Caramel dipped pear on the retro. Palate: Some peppery spice, cereal dusted with light brown sugar. Finish: Milk chocolate, second hand lighted toasted oak, light, sweet BBQ smoke on the aftertaste. -
Nose: Intense aroma of sherry cask and raisins. Palate: Lighter than I expected on the body. An intense firey hit of vanilla and sherry that's quite overpowering. Finish: Sherry dominates the palate and the finish to the point that it's a bit too much for me but I understand why people like it. Notes: Water doesn't really do much to quiten down the beast.Café ZILT

Nose: Light peat and soil. Honey and subtle vanilla and citrus zest notes. Palate: Honey cured, smoked wafer thin ham. Some barrel wood. Finish: Increasing smoke intensity, but it's a light wispy smoke. Like a neighbour 3 doors down is having a BBQ and you weren't invited but the wind is blowing in your direction. The Swan

Masthouse Grain Whisky
Other Whiskey — Kent, England
Reviewed March 22, 2023 (edited January 12, 2024)Nose: Grainy, spicy. Sweet sticky buns. Palate: Light but a nice creamy texture. Sweet vanilla and buttered rye bread. Finish: Vanilla icing with a medium length rye spice. -
Nose: Sweet and fruity, pear, stewed green apple. A touch of salt. Palate: Light body, pears and a salty brine leap forward with heather floral notes. Finish: Some of the peat influence emerges with a subtle barrel spice but both are suitably complimentary. A lasting aftertaste of pear. Notes: It's very pleasant. Something to suit most tastes I would suggest. Jack of all trades but that's not a bad thing IMO.8.5 GBP per ShotMoonfleet Manor
