Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 14, 2020 (edited April 2, 2021)Nose - sweet and perfume like, vanilla, some spice. Almost the smell of a cookie box with cardboard and dry sweet cookies. Taste - Sweet and pepper spice with browned marshmallows, oak, vanilla and some white pepper. It says more sweet than spice. Mouthfeel is thin and drying. Finish- More vanilla flavor, tannic dryness, and a touch of leather. Really dries out the palate. Some interesting bits and I like the flavors a lot but the dryness brings it down a pinch for me. Might be a great option with steak to cleanse the fats from your tongue though. -
Willett Pot Still Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 14, 2020 (edited October 28, 2020)Uncorking - Rye and wood. Bits of brown sugar and spice. Tasting - Rye up front. Fruity apples and spiced pears. Finish - fairly long and fruity, bits of wood dust, almost cedar and leather. Somehow an almost candy quality. -
Angel's Envy Bourbon Finished in Port Wine Barrels

Reviewed October 10, 2020 (edited October 26, 2020)Nose- dark fruits, sweet, caramel, cherry. Taste - sweet brown sugar caramel, cherry, roasted nuts, almost corn nut. Lots of sweet dark fruits with warm wood. Spices are gentle and just give balance on the back of your tongue. The oak and ruby fruit syrups come through in the finish which looooonnng. -
New Riff Kentucky Straight Bourbon Bottled In Bond
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 6, 2020 (edited November 14, 2020)Nose- caramel leads the way followed by leather and oak. Taste - the leather was quick to reveal itself. Followed by a creamy caramel, spice and cut woods. Bit of hug lingers while the taste mellows into a caramel and vanilla candy. -
Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 6, 2020 (edited October 11, 2020)Nose matches taste- lots of spice, mostly cinnamon followed by some oak and sweetness. Finish is medium long with spice leaving slowly and leaving behind a little oak and vanilla. -
Jack Daniel's Eric Church Single Barrel Select
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee , USA
Reviewed October 4, 2020 (edited April 3, 2021)Uncorking- banana, vanilla and spice all a bit low key. Taste- Caramel and mellow oak on the tongue. Finishes sweet and mellow. Less banana than Gentleman Jack with more complexity. Vanilla and caramel are present but background to the brown sugar sweetness and banana. It's balanced with extra hug and spice to realize it's more than a normal JD but in some ways more mellow than JD SB. I don't know if I would say better than Single Barrel but different enough to be worth a try if you like JD SB and see it at retail. If you don't this won't change your mind. I do know there is no world this is worth $100 let alone the $300-400 I saw people selling these on secondary already.
