Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed July 7, 2023 (edited December 27, 2023)132.7 (Highest single barrel ive tried so far) Aroma - deep tones of rich caramel, bananas cherries. There is even notes of dark chocolate and alcohol dark fruits. Really decadent aroma. Taste - Well that first sip ripped the enamel off my teeth. Taste follows the nose but the alcohol presence is like Mr. Koolaid man bursting through walls and body slamming your taste buds. Extremely long caramel and booze soaked dark fruit finish. Overall - This is the highest JDSBBP proof offering I have had to date. And it is awesome. The nose is just an explosion of awesomeness. -
Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series 2023 BEP
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 7, 2023 (edited September 6, 2023)Aroma- very soft and light. Caramel, vanilla frosting, oak. There’s even a slight potpourri-like note in there or an old craft store. Slight red fruit tones. Again, just very soft notes here. Taste - Wow. I was not expecting that at all. Bold caramel and vanilla notes paired with alcohol soaked fruits. I’m getting cherries, berries and even a slight citrus. Getting a quite a bit of floral notes at the mid to back palate. Overall - Decent Kentucky hug, flavors are nice and it’s a pretty well balanced whiskey. Nothing to be wowed about and price is just okay for the offering. -
Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye (2023 Release)
Rye — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed July 7, 2023 (edited August 24, 2023)Barrell # 23-03120 Bottling Date - 3-30-23 Barrel House- 2-03 133.9 Proof 66.95% Aroma - massive dark fruit and melted caramel profile here along with subtle hint of banana. Surprisingly there is hardly any alcohol presence which makes me a little scared. The nose is fantastic though. This is candle worthy. Zero rye presence here. I absolutely love this. Taste - That massive banana foster note profile is popping up front with black cherries and caramel. Midpalate - cherries still linger, but then the rye hits in the form of wintergreen and mint. There is a touch of cinnamon from time to time but it’s in the form of a red hot candy. Finish- boozy, caramel drizzle, vanilla, luxrado cherry juice, rye spice. Overall - it’s a monster of a pour. Rips the enamel off the teeth and the stomach and lower esophagus take a beating on this one. But palate gives zero fucks. For the pice of $80. This might be the best rye barrel proof offering on the market. -
Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye
Canadian — Alberta, Canada
Reviewed July 6, 2023 (edited March 3, 2024)Aroma - an absolute fruit bomb. Carmel-apple, all kinds of berries, oranges, melon up front. One of the better smelling rye whiskeys I have experienced. Incredibly balanced and inviting. If the palate matched the nose, this is gonna be awesome. Taste - Wow that front and mid-palate is awesome. Tons of spicy rye notes (cinnamon and bugglegum) balanced out with caramel-apples and orange creamsicle notes. The finish is bit long and the hug is pretty significant. I’m really liking this offering. However, I am getting a hard drying..almost medicinal note much later on the finish.like 30-60 seconds after the sip. Overall - The nose is absolutely incredible. Front and mid-palate and beginning of the finish is all outstanding… I wish it stopped there in a sense. The viscosity is awesome, thick and sticks to the palate. But as the finish continues on, there is a sharp drying profile that rears its ugly head and takes away the amazing sweetness that was experienced through 90% of the sip. For the price though, this is one of the best rye whiskies you can find in my opinion. -
Heaven Hill Bottled In Bond 7 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 6, 2023 (edited September 6, 2023)Aroma - peanut butter with vanilla ice cream with bits of honey graham cracker. Touch of dark berries and baking spices round it out. Very inviting. Taste - All the usual suspects show up here in a really nice balance (vanilla, caramel, oak). There is a nice nutty profile here that provides that HH experience. Not much else to report. Overall - For the price… this is definitely above average. Lots of flavor, decent mouthfeel for a BiB. The finish isn’t long (as expected) but it’s sufficient enough. 4.10 -
Larceny Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch B523
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 6, 2023 (edited December 1, 2023)Aroma - explosion of awesomeness. Tons of butterscotch, vanilla, caramelized apples. Possibly the best aroma I’ve experienced with these Larceny BP products. It is really awesome. Taste - Following the nose here. But in addition, I’m getting a slightly browned marshmallow note. Overall - Wow. This is an absolutely phenomenal release. This drinks well above it’s price tag in my opinion. The proof is well hidden here as well. This is a decadent finish is quite long and coats the palate with a really nice vanilla and butterscotch note. -
Jack Daniel's Twice Barreled American Single Malt (2022 Release)
American Single Malt — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed July 6, 2023 (edited July 26, 2023)Aroma - a dessert bomb. Butterscotch, caramel, banana bread, cherries in the back. Very nice oak profile brings balance. Doesn’t present itself as a twice barreled product though to be honest. At least not off this dram. Taste - Huge blast of sherry up front that continues on through the mid-palate and in the finish. The sherry really dominates the palate in my opinion. I do get some of the JD profile coming through here in the form of caramel and bananas foster, maybe a slight hint of butterscotch but it’s fleeting and I only pick it up every few sips. Also some hints of chocolate covered raisins. Overall - I prefer the nose over the palate. The sherry is extremely bold on the palate and I’m getting a slightly drying aspect on the finish. 4.35 -
2015 Aroma- orange creamsicle for days. Slight hint of black pepper, rye spice and faint caramelized apples. Awesome nose Taste - everything from the nose transfers to the palate. This is extremely soft on the palate. Finish is light to medium with caramel and hint of oak and a really nice strawberry and vanilla note. Overall - not overly complex but at 100 proof, this one pack a punch of flavors

Old Forester The 117 Series: Warehouse H
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 30, 2023 (edited July 26, 2023)Aroma - that typical OF note of banana bread with slightly funky oak and cherry juice is awesome. As is opens the oak is just massive and rich caramel comes through. Absolutely love the nose here. Taste - Dark fruits, banana bread, slightly earthy and smokey/char at the back end of the palate. Touch of heat with that OF flavor profile that you find on the 1920. Every once in a while, get a hint of bubblegum which is nice. Overall - coming off the rich nose, I was expecting a bit more on the palate. Slightly drying finish. -
Aroma - not a lot going on here, The corn really comes through along with pepper, and baking spices. Taste - Corn, pepper, orange peel, cinnamon, baking spices, hint of toasted marshmallow. Overall - Sweet & Spicy. It’s slightly above average overall. The rye is quite evident on the palate which is nice because it brings balance. This would probably make for great Old Fashion.
