Batch 2 review (LL/JL) Nose: sugar cookie. Hints of licorice. Confectionary sweetness, almost like a frosting. Subtle pop of oak at the end. nose is layered and robust. Palate: oily mouthfeel. Spiciness from the high rye. Leather and dusty oak come in followed by an awesome chocolate note. Finish: dusty oak and leather. Stront dark chocolate note. Finish doesnt last as much as i would like. Overall: oak + wild turkey distillate is a great combo. Oak is certainly present but not as over powering as batch 3. Wish the finish was a good bit stronger. Rating: 8 on the t8ke scale

Nose: strong. Tupical JD banana but with oak and cinnamon dialed up. Nice leather at the end Palate: starts with banana but evolves into more red fruit. Very bright, borderline acidic. Finish: this is where the oak shines. Lower in strength but lingers for a while. Oak is definitely present but its never tannic, dry or overpowering. Perfectly balanced Overall: definitely unique. Hard to find a bourbon that has both fruit and oak to this degree. 8 on the t8ke scale

Knob Creek 18 Year Bourbon 30th Anniversary (2022 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 25, 2023Nose: sweet oak, white pepper, cola, caramel, butterscotch Palate: thick, sweet oak. Milk chocolate with burnt marshmellow and caramel. Hint of spice. Nice viscosity given the proof Finish: white peoper, dark chocolate. Mild in intensity and medium in length. Perfect dryness to make the oak present but its never overwhelming. 8 on the t8ke scale. Hits all the classic bourbon notes but amplified in flavor but not intensity. Wish the finish was a touch longer. Surprsingly, the 15 is more tannic and this is more sweet. -
Nose: oak and leather dominate. Beam nuttiness. Pretzel, oversalted caramel. Feint licorice Palate: age smooths out any harsh or spiciness. Beam nuttiness is feint. Oak, oak and more oak. Finish: oak and very tannic. Lingering and leave your mouth very dry. Powerful but the 100 proof keeps it from beint overwhelming. Dark chocolate and pretzel note appears. One dimensional in its oak profile but it never overwhelms. It does one thing and does it whelm. 12 year is more balanced and give you more traditional bourbon flavors but this does a great job of differentiating itself. Fine at 100 proof, 10-15 more proof points would have done this wonders. 7 on the t8ke scale

Nose: funky old oak, peanut, getting some savory notes, almond jello Palate: palate follows the nose with the almond jello heavy up front, overripe wild cherry, grainy oak. Body is on the thinner side but the flavor is stronger than its proof Finish: long but mild in intensify. Dry, bitter tannins. Oak and dark chocolate lasts for a long timez Pretty unique offering. Brighter than i anticipated but that almond jello note is wonderful. Glad to have a bottle, lots of nuance to pick out. 9 on the t8ke scale

Nose: lighter side. Brown sugar, raisins, smoky oak Palate: raisins, cherries that Stagg is known for, smoky oak Finish: more smoky oak, rye spice, finishes with a dark chocolate. A treat everytime, probably my favorite readily accessible on secondary bourbon. Hits all the notes I want, 9 on the t8ke scale. Wish the nose was a hair more powerful

Michter's 20 Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon (2018 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 29, 2023Nose: couldn’t stop smelling this. So much oak. But in a sweet and good way Palate: a ton of oak as well it intertwines with the proof so well. It’s not over powering, it has the balance that you come to expect from Michters. Finish: more oak as well. On the shorter side but the dryness is so satisfying 10 on the t8ke scale
