Nose: orange, caramel, lychee Palate: orange, almond. Almost like those biscotti sticks. One of the only bourbons that has a creamy mouthfeel and taste. Easy drinking, no real depth of flavor but very enjoyable. Finish: mild in intensity but long in length. Rye spice starts to shine through Comments: is it good? Absolutely. Is it worth the MSRP or even secondary? Not really. A bottle I’ll always enjoy and won’t mind buying once in a blue moon 6 on the t8ke scale

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch A121
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 6, 2022 (edited October 8, 2022)Nose: oak, cinnamon, honey, graham cracker Palate: baking spices, black pepper, acidic fruit from the heat Finish: dark chocolate, oak, very long Overall: oak with a touch of heat. One of the more balanced batches. Finish is simple yet effective and lingering. Consistent, not overly complex but hits standard bourbon notes and a good price. Good to always have on the shelf when I want oak and proof. 6 on the t8ke scale -
George Dickel 13 Year Bottled in Bond Tennessee Whisky (Spring 2007)
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed August 30, 2022 (edited October 26, 2022)Nose: crème brûlée, cinnamon, flan, licorice Palate: lemon, vanilla, nutmeg, custard. Very smooth and silky Finish: short, medium in strength. Toffee, custard, old wood Overall: rich and hits multiple flavors profiles. Complex but drinkable. Love this one 8 on the t8ke scale -
Nose: apple juice, lemon zest, hint of oatmeal as a base Palate: almond, apples, honey Finish: surprisingly long, crème brûlée, touch of allspice and nutmeg Overall: fruity with a pleasant surprise of complexity, especially on the finish. Squeezes everything out of its proof plus more. Complex enough to think about, enjoyable enough to let it be a background drink. Really liking this after having the bottle open for nearly 6 months. 7 on the t8ke scale

Nose: licorice, burnt toast, dried tea Palate: sage, figs, jam Finish: allspice, nutmeg, pepper. Overall: interesting take on the double oak. It definitely tames the rye but the rye also tames some of the barrel character. The char works so well with the rye spice. But it’s missing some of that sweet vanilla and caramel notes that I would typically expect 6 on the t8ke scale

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch A122
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 26, 2022 (edited March 18, 2022)Nose: brown sugar, caramel, cherry cola Palate: cherry cola, slight spice, Dr Pepper Finish: touch of oak and chocolate, more cherry cola I think the 120 proof point is perfect. Straight soda 7 on the t8ke scale -
Nose: campfire, bandaids, mint, lemon. Very strong on the nose Palate: light campfire and smoke. Lemon. Slight salinity, medicinal taste. Light on the palate and mouthfeel. Finish: smoke shines here, vanilla notes. Medium length, delicate, dryness on the tongue First time having an islay. Won’t give this a rating until I have it more. But not as polarizing as I thought. Enjoyable
