Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 11, 2017 (edited April 24, 2018)2015 bottling. Familiar Wild Turkey nose. Sweet, smooth, good spice and a hint of Wild Turkey funk. Vanilla and orange zest that transforms into a bit of bitterness. Good mouthfeel. 7/7/17 2011 bottling. Funky but mild nose. Spicy, almost floral on the palate. Smooth. Orange zest. Long but mild finish. Smooth for the proof. 5/27/18 -
Not sure which batch this is. Smells rich, deep, almost like fortified wine, although the fruit component is mostly apple. I'm sure this is the power of suggestion, but I do smell... salt. Some butterscotch as well. Spicy on the tongue, with some sweet notes. Some wood and brine as well. Pretty good. But is it worth the price? 7/9/17

High West Bourye (2015 Release)
Blended American Whiskey — Indiana & Kentucky (Bottled in) Utah, USA
Reviewed July 8, 2017 (edited January 17, 2021)Batch 16A08 (so, probably the 2016 release). Initially alcohol sting on the nose. Seems like the rye is stronger at this stage. Floral notes and some apple and vanilla. Baked apple pie. On the palate, the apple pie notes continue. Smooth caramel, cinnamon, apples, and vanilla ice cream. Spice and pleasant bitterness linger, and a surprising amount of warmth going down. Some bubblegum in the aftertaste. Delicious. 7/8/17 -
Wild Turkey 8 Year 101 Proof (Old Label)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 7, 2017 (edited April 24, 2018)A slightly more refined version of the 101. Similar flavor profile, but seems a bit smoother, with a longer finish. Great aftertaste. 7/7/17 -
Russell's Reserve 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 7, 2017 (edited February 19, 2018)Nose seems a bit muted. Some fruitiness, and paper. Taste is better, some fruit, some grain, spice, charred wood. Surprisingly intense caramel. Short finish. Great everyday sipper. 7/7/17 Strong wood notes this time around, both on th enose and the palate, especially the front end. The spice and sweetness balances it out mid palate, before it returns as a char/bitter note. 1/13/18 -
Wild Turkey Diamond Anniversary Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 7, 2017 (edited June 4, 2018)Batch No. B14-0035. Great nose. Caramel, butterscotch, a floral note. Smooth, but also thin, on the tongue. Decent sweetness, vanilla and wood notes. Some bitterness on the end. Perhaps not the familiar Wild Turkey punch, but pleasant sipper. 7/7/17 This has opened up. It's still thinner than other WT bottles but it's fuller than last time. Much more caramel and vanilla this time around. The spice is balancing. Bumping this up a star. 7/30/17 peanut notes have really developed as I get to the end of the bottle. Very flavorful for this proof. Will definitely pick up another bottle if I can find it for under $100. 10/20/17 -
Wild Turkey Master's Keep 17 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 7, 2017 (edited August 30, 2017)Great nose, classic bourbon. Flat on the front end, maybe some honey and anise, but long finish, with brown sugar, vanilla, wood, spice. I can see why some say this is too smooth, but the flavors are there. 7/7/17 What a great nose, may have even opened up since I first cracked the bottle, seems fuller. Wood spice, cider, honey, some vanilla and nutmeg. On the palate, brown sugar, cinnamon, zest, leather, and turpentine. Was a bit thin the first time, but seems much chewier now. Long finish, a lingering dark chocolate and orange peel. 8/30/17 -
George Dickel 9 Year Hand Selected Barrel
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed July 3, 2017 (edited April 24, 2018)From The Wine and Cheese Place. A tinge of beef jerky on the nose? And nuts, the signature Dickel profile. On the palate, tastes like cola. A chemical, preservative note to it as well. A unique flavor. The right amount of heat. Again, unique. 7/3/17 -
On the nose, dirt, hay, mushrooms (truffles, even), and boiled peanuts. Unique. After a few minutes, there's a sour note as well. Check out the legs on this, it sticks to the glass. Extremely thick, it moves through the mouth and down the throat in slow motion. Sweet barley, dark chocolate covered nuts, espresso, and baking spice in a lingering, warm finish. Interesting indeed. 7/2/17
