Westland American Single Malt
American Single Malt — Washington, USA
Reviewed November 29, 2023 (edited January 5, 2024)New Westland single malts are vastly different from years gone by. Long gone are the days of deep, dark, nutty, coffee flavors. Now it presents as young and brash. Maybe it just doesn't live up to my nostalgic memories. -
This is very enjoyable. Taste of powdered sugar and peanut brittle, with a very nice nutty / roasty finish. I really like this profile in American single malts (like a Westland). I love how transparent the bottling is. Where / What / When it was distilled and aged clearly on the label. It drinks young, there's a noticeable burn and abrasiveness, but not that big of a detractor if you don't mind.

Colkegan Single Malt Whiskey
American Single Malt — New Mexico, USA
Reviewed July 14, 2021 (edited December 17, 2021)Nose is more toasty, and the smoke shows up on the taste. Very pleasant sweetness with a thread of smoke. Very good. It's a little pokey, I don't think it is aged very long. Interested in an older bottling. Smoke shows up more the longer you drink. It's NOT a peaty smoke, no brine or iodine. If you don't want an overly sweet whiskey, give this a try. -
