Tastes

An interesting bourbon. Notes of a woody corn come to mind but truly nothing distinguishes itself out front. Some hints of a possible floral flavor far on the backside. I will say there is a flavor that steps out at the beginning but i just cannot make that identification.

A nice scotch. Rather smooth with just a little hint of heat but that tapers nicely. A little fruity and then smoky with a touch of wood but not peaty at all. Nice gentle backside with some complexity of flavors.

Here we go! Compared to the Japanese malt I reviewed just before this, well it’s night and day! Flavor from the onset with a nice leather and wood sensation. A little build of warmth but that holds just perfectly and then a subtle finish inviting the next sip… this one wilk be kept on the bar top…

My first venture into Japanese malts and very interesting. A fairly smooth start with a little warmth but nothing over the top. That gently fades and some frankly unidentifiable flavors come forth but nothing i can distinctly say takes charge. Maybe a hint of apple far into the tasting… meh…

An interesting whiskey… just can’t put my fingernon what is happening here. Nothing bad for sure but flavors upfront allude me. The backside i find some dark chocolate notes, maybe a little fruity, then maybe woody towards the finish line.

Ok… I’m a Yellowstone fan and this is another to keep on the bar top! I find a hint of apricot which transitions to an oaky taste on the backside. Not as smooth as Virginia Distilling malt but love the complexity of this one.

A little spice goes a long way with me. Not a hot spice but more of a cinnamon style but not necessarily a cinnamon flavor on its own.

A nice scotch. Very smooth and subtle flavors. One I will add to my “Buy it if you see it” list!

So this is the first time i used funky in the tasting notes! LOL I just cannot nail down the flavors i am experiencing in words or than to say it is a little woody, a little dry, but seems to have this really pleasing yet unidentifiable flavor on the backend… might have to get a little more of this to break it down.

Smooth for sure but somewhat uneventful. No strong flavors come forth for me. Rather light a a little dry on the backend which might be an age issue.
