Herradura Reposado Tequila
Tequila Reposado — Tequila Valley, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed October 26, 2019Neat. Nose is sweet, strong red caramel apple, vanilla, oak, and herbal with a little heat. Taste is honey/caramel, candied apple, vanilla, anise, oak with a sweet sucralose finish with cinnamon, anise, and allspice. Medium mouthfeel Undeniably tasty. Reminds me of fall..but seems like it does have some additives with the caramel, sweetness, and apple38.0 USD per Bottle -
Tequila San Matias Legado Reposado
Tequila Reposado — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed October 26, 2019 (edited September 6, 2022)Neat at room temp. Aroma is light with green apple, agave, oak, vanilla, touch of herbs and not much heat, Taste is true to nose. Moderately thin mouthfeel. Moderate agave sweetness balanced immediately by the oak tannins..and vanilla smooths it out. Some citrus/lime peel and nice spices from the barrel come out near the end..allspice/nutmeg and cinnamon. Combined with that vanilla, it's pleasant and not cloying The only heat is at the finish. More of a warming from hot cinnamon than alcohol, but not overwhelming in the least Sippable in a pinch. Good value for a 100% agave utility tequila when used with stronger flavors15.0 USD per Bottle -
El Tesoro Blanco Tequila
Tequila Blanco — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed October 23, 2019 (edited February 5, 2023)Enjoying neat. Nose is white sugar, herbs, agave, aloe, pear...very little ethanol heat Taste is complex, balanced, delicate. Starts vegetal with cooked agave, cane sugar, then black pepper, mint leaves/tarragon/cilantro, lime pith and leaves. Finish builds and is drying with some fading sugar leaving you with citrus peel. Mouthfeel is balanced, mineral overtones. I believe this is additive free and I don't taste any artificial or masking flavors. Very little alcohol heat. Overall it ticks all my wants as a highland grown, stone oven baked, tahona crushed, open fermented, copper pot distilled, spring water, additive free tequila. Honest, flavorful and all at a nice price point. Tasting with Siete Leguas, which has nearly the same region/process pedigree..and this is more delicate, smoother, and herbal, where the SL is richer and punchier..equally great33.0 USD per Bottle -
Neat. Beautiful amber copper color. Nose is oak, smoke, caramel, cooked agave, cocoa, butterscotch, mint. Flavor is cooked agave, oak, light caramel, char, pepper, vanilla, mild green herbs like tarragon, cilantro.. It finishes moderately long and changes over time, Starting lightly agave sweet with cocoa, vanilla oak and a little tongue numbing alcohol..that slowly fades bringing back some faint barrel sweetness and black pepper Overall, lots of flavors to find throughout a sip and nicely balanced, Medium mouthfeel. Additives seem more restrained than other XA in the price class and even their own añejo. Good value for a supposedly 5 year extra anejo, Nice crossover for aged rye lovers43.0 USD per Bottle

Neat. Nose is very faint. No ethanol burn, citrus peel, white pepper, oak. Taste starts a little sweet, but quickly becomes bitter. Citrus rind, tamarind, bitter orange, white pepper, anise, a little vanilla Longish finish of orange rind, saccharine, and french oak. Mouthfeel is thin and finishes very dry. No 'Curevo Gold bite' whatsoever I feel like I'm supposed to hate this, but I don't. I haven't tasted a tequila quite like this. Dry, bitter, citrusy. I can definitely see how the bitterness would turn off a lot of people that love a nice rich fruity tequila. This is a 180 from something like a Clase Azul Rep. Fans of a dry IPA or a Belgian Wit, with an orange, just might like this.41.0 USD per Bottle

Casamigos Blanco Tequila
Tequila Blanco — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed July 18, 2019 (edited April 6, 2022)Tasting neat. Nose is round and rich, agave, vanilla, and a touch of anise. The taste is rich, sweet, smooth, artificial vanilla, cream soda, some light herbal notes of anise, mint, cilantro at the end. Fairly thick mouthfeel. The finish is a bit lingering..mostly saccharine and that vanilla flavoring. Not much burn Not a bad drink. Probably a nice gateway splurge tequila for those looking for life after Cuervo Gold as it is very pretty, but not particularly complex. Questionable value locally for $46. There is a nice 4 pack of 375ml of all the products, so I'd recommend that route for the curious46.0 USD per Bottle -
Neat from a freshly opened bottle. Nose is sweet, agave, fruity, slight minerals and herbal notes. Taste is true to nose. Agave nectar, tropical fruit, a little smooth vanilla, and green herbs and a whisper of mint and hot cinnamon. Body is moderately light and pretty smooth. Finish is pretty long and mostly saccharine sweet and drying, with that cinnamon building up a little over time. Not a bad sipper. Not super complex, but not boring and very drinkable. Not many organics available at this price. Would purchase again at this price29.0 USD per Bottle

Siete Leguas Blanco Tequila
Tequila Blanco — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed June 22, 2019 (edited February 5, 2023)Neat from a freshly opened bottle Nose is agave, white pepper, and earthy..faintly funky hay Taste is sweet, agave, tropical fruit, cinnamon candy, minerals, and hint of that hay and some herbs. Moderately rich mouthfeel. Finish is pretty long, most notably that cinnamon, minerals, and that earthy hay. There's a lot to taste here. I think that yeast really sets this apart. It's sweet and fruity from the highland agave, yet has that earthy, rustic, slightly funky side from the yeast. It's a nice contrast that gives it balance and is definitely a sipper to exercise those taste buds. It may not be for everyone..but if you like good tequila and good cheese, I think you'll love it40.0 USD per Bottle -
Neat from a freshly opened bottle: Nose is agave, citrus, grassy, floral, herbal. Hints of tarragon and anise. Touch of clean ethanol keeps it bright, but not harsh. Very pleasant. Taste is sugar cane, agave syrup, citrus, tropical fruits, fresh green herbs such as tarragon, cilantro, anise, and mint, a little vanila and butter, a hint of cinnamon. Finish is fairly short, mild sweetness, mild cinnamon, and a bit tart. Moderate creamy mouthfeel and no burn A nice example of a highlands tequila It has all the nice, pretty, bright and fruity flavors, and then adds some light herbs and a tart finish that adds a lot of complexity in just the right amount. Great Value too30.0 USD per Bottle

Neat. Nose is fruity, herbal, floral, agave, vanilla, oak, touch of white pepper at the end. Taste starts agave sweet, tropical fruits, oaky vanilla, wildflower honey that's hard to pinpoint specific herbs, then soft peppery oak for balance on the pretty side. It's got a nice floral sweet bitter finish that lasts a decently long time. Overall. it's a very pretty, almost feminine, tequila that is perfectly balanced by the barrel that only adds some more masculine notes while not distracting from those qualities. Value is meh. $60US would be fair, but this is a better juice than 1942 IMO65.0 USD per Bottle
