New Riff Malted Rye Bottled in Bond
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 24, 2021 (edited March 10, 2022)Fascinating nose with mostly grapefruit flesh, sage, and honeysuckle nectar; dark berries, dark chocolate, walnuts and walnut skin, and pink peppercorn; remarkable smooth for a rye—it’s incredible, and fairy creamy; long, smooth, sweet finish with a little cardamom and anise; this is my favorite rye ever -
2021. The benchmark for single barrel bourbon for me. Nose baking spice, corn ethanol, some dark berry, and a little cinnamon; body is corn, light caramel, baking slice, and a little vanilla; it’s got a great oily texture and is not too hot; medium finish with oak, brown sugar, baking slice, and blackberry105.0 USD per Bottle

Plum, mild baking spice, vanilla, and fresh mizunara oak nose is lovely; there’s honestly not a ton of flavor unfortunately, a balanced grassy note from mizunara predominate with a bit of sweet pastry bread flavor from the barley; slightly hot, fairly thin; finishes clean with mizunara oak only; it’s nice to get the mizunara flavor, but otherwise, not very complex or interesting for the price; I’m curious about the iterations with age statements80.0 USD per Bottle
