Whiskey Del Bac Dorado Mesquite Smoked Single Malt
American Single Malt — Arizona, USA
Reviewed March 5, 2022 (edited March 19, 2022)NOSE Mesquite BBQ smoke, blackberry licorice, oak, caramelized banana, slight cocoa and spice and leather. Mesquite BBQ smoke goes on and on and makes for a wonderful profile. PALATE Mesquite BBQ, oak, blackberry licorice, nutty, sweet tobacco and some leather and spice. This is fun, this is tasty, it’s not for everyone, but in its niche, it’s a killer. FINISH Long -> Mesquite, oak, spiced citrus, and nuts slowly fade out. -
Whiskey Del Bac Classic Unsmoked
American Single Malt — Arizona, USA
Reviewed March 5, 2022 (edited March 6, 2022)NOSE Malt, dried fruit, caramel, oak and herbal spice with a hint of mesquite. I know it’s not smoked, but there is a hint of it here, mostly herbally and malty though with light dry oak. PALATE Malt, cocoa, oak, caramel, vanilla, spice, pastries and a hint of mesquite Sweet and touch dry oak, but mostly malty and rustic. There is a “western” feel to it and I get a bit of that mesquite in there. It isn’t fully unsmoked. FINISH Long -> malty, oaky and mesquite cocoa slowly fade out. -
Whiskey Del Bac Distiller's Cut (Summer 2021)
American Single Malt — Arizona, USA
Reviewed March 4, 2022 (edited March 5, 2022)NOSE Fruity sweet, malty sweet, oak, toffee, slight herbal baking spice and sweet tobacco. Aroma is dominated by that malty fruity sweetness, but if you give it a little time and water the supporting notes arrive. PALATE Herbal spice, winey-fruity sweetness, nutty, tannic oak and some touches of wood and Twizzlers. The palate is quite dry and tannic, but I’ve had worse. The notes though are decent. FINISH Medium -> Fruity sweetness, tannic oak and cocoa fade out to herbal spice. -
NOSE Vanilla taffy, spice, dark sweetness, copper, herbaceous, citrus, nuts and baking spice with a slight Play-Doh note. Pleasant. A light fruitiness slowly arises as it opens, but it doesn’t shift the core profile at all. PALATE Grassy grain, toffee, baking spice, herbaceous, vanilla, touch of candied ginger. This palate is going to be VERY divisive, but at least it will stand out in the market. FINISH Medium -> Grassy (almost corn husks), toffee and vanilla pod fade to a grassy candied ginger.

NOSE Caramel, oak, herbal notes and baking spice with a bit of vanilla, copper and dried fruit. Smells quite nice. It isn’t heavy or deep, but all out pleasant. PALATE Caramel, watery wood (chewed up toothpick), dried corn, herbal, baking spice and bits of citrus peels, copper and dried fruit. Not nearly as good as the aroma, but still fairly tasty despite coming through a bit raw and “toothpicky”. FINISH Medium -> Dried corn, vanilla, wood and a bit of spice and minerality.

Baker's Exclusive Selection Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 1, 2022 (edited November 30, 2022)NOSE Oak, dried dark fruit, peanut brittle, cinnamon, clove, anise, leather, chocolate covered cherries, char and a touch biscuity. Oooh, this is good. It reminds me of old Booker’s releases. PALATE Oak, dried dark fruit, peanut brittle, cinnamon, leather, char and a touch biscuity with some light notes of cocoa and black licorice. Yup, a LOT like older Booker’s releases. Yum. FINISH Long -> Oak, dried dark fruit, peanut brittle and baking spice. -
Cedar Ridge Double Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Iowa, USA
Reviewed February 28, 2022 (edited March 1, 2022)NOSE Oak, dried dark fruit, nutmeg heavy baking spice, cocoa, vanilla candy and nuts. A warm, rich, bourbon aroma rolls through the nose, this is great. PALATE Woody, anise and clove baking spice, butterscotch, baker’s cocoa, dried fruit and tannic black tea. A crafty-woody note perks up here to the point of being distracting. I’m not enjoying it as much as the aroma, not even close. FINISH Med-long -> Tannic oak, bakers cocoa and dry spice with some black tea. -
NOSE Oak, orchard fruit, caramel, spice, breadiness, citrus and touches of dill and minerality with a lightly biscuity note. A fairly standard rye aroma, nothing groundbreaking, but nothing wrong with it either. PALATE Cinnamon heavy baking spice, herbal, toffee, oak, green fruit, metallic taffy and a slight minerality and some chocolate Necco. Woah, this is weird. It’s like if there was an olde style candy made of rye mixed with a baked good. FINISH Medium -> Cinnamon, oak, vanilla, minerality fades to chocolate Necco.

Reviewed February 27, 2022 (edited June 4, 2022)NOSE Banana pudding, dried tropical fruit, Sunkist Fruit Gems, graham, cocoa, waxy vanilla taffy, baking spice and a bit of olde candy. Something about the sweetness coming off of this reminds me of the sugar-free lollipops I got from the dentist when I was a kid. PALATE Malt, dried orchard and tropical fruit, Sunkist Fruit Gems, cocoa, graham, vanilla taffy and a touch of peppery spice and baking spice. The spiciness builds as it goes and it works perfectly with the sweetness. FINISH Medium -> Malty, fruity, sweet and spicy.
