An intense, Single Malt Scotch Whiskey by Lochlea Distilling Co. in Lowlands, Scotland crafted with local barley from Cochlea. It was matured in a combination of first-fill ex-bourbon & ex-Oloroso sherry casks, as well as shaved, toasted & re-charred barriques before being bottled at 46.0%. It has an aromatic birth with notes of grain, wood, fruits, nuts, herbs & spices; a bold & spicy life adds notes of buttered soda bread, canned peaches, apple juice, fruit salad, honey, crystalized orange peel, crushed almonds, Harp lager & vanilla extract; that led to a long, rich & creamy death with notes of white pepper, toasted oak, rye bread, marmalade, maple syrup, macadamia nuts & beeswax. A rich, Rye Whiskey by Adam Spiegel Sonoma Distilling Company in Sonoma, California bottled at 46.5% ABV. It has an aromatic birth with notes of grain, wood, cooked fruit, nuts, herbs & spices; while a rich life adds notes of rye spice, dried apricot, ripe cherry & mint; that led to a warm death of medium length with notes of vanilla, allspice, white pepper, cinnamon, burnt brown sugar, walnut & cherrywood smoke. An elegant, Irish Whiskey by Sliabh Liag Distillers in Donegal, Ireland crafted with a couple double-distilled & lightly peated triple-distilled Single Malts, peated to about 22ppm & matured in sherry casks. It's then blended with a bourbon-matured single malt as well as a grain whiskey having been rested in virgin oak before being bottled at 46% ABV. It has an aromatic birth with notes of grain, wood, peat smoke, orchard fruit, toasted nuts, herbs & spices; while a rich & delicate life adds notes of sweet malt, apple, pear, caramel, peanut butter & anise; that led to a quick & balanced death with notes of spicy oak, salted dark chocolate, cigar box, leather, pipe tobacco, smoke & sea foam. A complex, Bourbon by Bryan Nolt founder of Breckenridge Distillery in Colorado crafted with high rye Breckenridge Bourbon Whiskey that has been aged an additional 6 months in Tawny Port casks. It has an aromatic birth with notes of grain, wood, dark fruits, herbs & spices; while a full & rich life adds notes of sweet corn, butterscotch, vanilla & raisins; that led to a warm & complex death of medium length with notes of oak, rye spice & metalic minerality. A bold, Rye Danish Whisky by Stauning Whisky Distillery in Denmark crafted with malted Danish rye & barley entirely floor-malted on-site; distilled on open-fired stills, double-distilled in copper pots; then aged in new American oak casks before being bottled at 48% ABV.
