Nose: Magnificent - it is like you got teleported to the shore of Talisker distillery with a single sniff. Oyster shell and the creaminess of oyster, sea water, hint of peat and smoke, scent of grass and almond. You are basically facing the sea from the distillery. With water the more fruity characters like tangerine and grapefruit become more visible. Palate: I like the nose more but it is still great. Some licorice comes in, continues to be peaty and salty. Some lemon peels and grapefruit as well. Finish: Some woody notes come out but it is more of smoke and peat. Definitely a very high quality Talisker despite the relatively high cost, a great presentation of the best characteristics from the distillery.90.0 USD per Pour

Nose is quite juniper driven with some peppery scent, a bit of floral notes Palate is very spicy - chilli hot both on tongue and throat. After swallowing it turns back to more like pepper and also some floral finish. When drunk together with tonic, the chilli hot is gone and is much more approachable with some citrus sweetness and floral notes, still a bit peppery. Overall it is quite an interesting gin with quite different profiles on straight vs with tonic, a good one to try.38.0 USD per Bottle

Nose: Strong, orange peel and peppery are quite dominant, some licorice, and flowers are always behind. Palate: Straight up - I am also a whisky fan and oh it is so much like tasting a cask strength whisky. Pepper and spicy on tongue with bitterness of fruit peels, and after you swallow the flavours flow back from the throat to bring more of the fruit peels but also some herbs, and a smoky leftover. The creamy texture is also uncommon on gins and it keeps the flavours longer on the tongue. With Tonic (Fever Tree) - more of the lighter characters come out like floral with orange peel, and scents of cinnamon. Finish: As if it never ends, very long on the pleasant bitterness of orange peel and juniper. Very interesting and it is rare for a gin to handle so well with straight up. Sorry for not exactly knowing what saffron tastes like - but I believe its addition likely have brought the flavours together in a strange harmony.50.0 USD per Bottle

This is such a special Laphroaig - so much of the aromas and flavours belong to the sea. It is not very salty, but all the flavours seem to be related - oyster shells, mud in the sea bed, etc. You still know the peat is a Laphroaig peat, but it is married to the sea to bring a new refined taste.95.0 USD per Bottle

Macallan 12 Year Sherry Oak Cask
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 19, 2020 (edited February 22, 2020)The aroma was pungent when it first came out of the bottle, more paint and plastic smell. However after it is allowed to rest for a few minutes the sweet aromas of pear and nectarine start to dominate, with scents of sherry oak to follow. On palate it similarly starts with sweet and fruity, and after swallowing the oak starts to come out. The finish is medium, but is very pleasant. As a 12-year old Macallan this is a lot more friendly and relaxing to drink than expected -
Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Select
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed February 4, 2020 (edited February 6, 2020)Magnificent aroma - start strongly with banana, honey and peanuts, after a while the wood comes out with other tropical fruits, a taint of paint Drier than expected on tongue with fairly strong alcohol sensation, the oaky side becomes more dominant. Very smooth and a long finish with some nuts, tea and charred wood Love the aromas more but overall this is a great bourbon - JD may be famous for its cheaper version for casual drinking (or even JD coke), but this bottle shows it is capable of something more for a delicate enjoyable gentlemen's night60.0 USD per Bottle -
Booker's Bourbon Batch 2019-04 "Beaten Biscuits"
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed January 26, 2020 (edited February 27, 2020)Very vibrant and strong aromas, caramel, oak, honey, a bit of nuts Straight off from bottle the first sip is smooth with a less than expected alcohol heat, but it gets stronger as it opens in the glass. Sweet, very pronounced oak notes, some nuts and the body reminds of butter. Adding a few drops of water make it smoother but I feel it becomes a bit less attractive in palate. Finish is long and is mainly of caramel and oak.
